The Maine Lobster Festival
Rockland, ME | August 2-6, 2017
There’s no better way to kick off August than with a lobster roll and a cold beer in hand! Enjoy a week of fun and feasting at The Maine Lobster Festival, just one of the million events that Gravy analyzes to deliver real-world consumer intelligence.
Since the event’s opening in 1947, The Maine Lobster Festival has caught more than just lobsters – it has captured the hearts of people around the world. With a variety of activities including live music and tastings, it’s no wonder this festival is ranked among the Top 100 events to attend in North America.
The five-day event begins on August 2nd with a ribbon-cutting opening ceremony, and by noon it’s filled with food vendors, dance parties, carnival rides and live bands. The Mad Scientist Booth, laser light show and circus make for a kid-friendly event.
Gravy verifies consumer attendances at more than 10MM places and 1MM events each day to deliver real-world consumer intelligence.

The event is also an opportunity for Maine to show off its finest delicacies: Lobster and blueberries. (Did you know that blueberries are the official berry of Maine?) Throughout the week, you can start your mornings with an all-you-can-eat-pancake-breakfast and spend your afternoons tasting an assortment of lobster dishes, including lobster rolls made with award-winning Cabot Butter and lobster caesar salad. Complementing the pancakes and lobster are some of the best local beers and wines that Maine has to offer.
Feeling lucky? The festival hosts a variety of competitions with a chance to win cash prizes. Whether you enter the seafood cooking contest (be warned…last year’s 1st place seafood crepes set the bar high) or the lobster crate race that span across the harbor, you’re guaranteed to have a good time!
End the festival on a high – a runner’s high, that is – by running in the 70th Maine Lobster Festival 10K road race. If a 10k isn’t for you, sign up for the 5k and enjoy the stunning views that put Rockland on the map.
Is that your stomach growling? 20,000 lbs. of Maine lobster are cooked during the festival, making it the largest lobster bake in the world! Make sure to try a lobster roll or feast on “steamers” (clams). We promise you won’t be disappointed!
The Maine Lobster festival is truly a community event. As a non-profit organization, The Maine Lobster festival gives 100% of their proceeds to the Midwest Maine community in support of local food pantries, high school sports teams, community service groups and local emergency services, and toward college scholarships for graduating high school students.
