New Money: The Top D.C.-Area Startup Funding Deals in January

February 5, 2019

Following D.C.’s biggest year of venture capital investment since the dotcom bubble in 2000, local startups hit the ground running in January.

At least 12 D.C.-area startups raised a combined $89 million in capital last month, slightly lower than December’s $131 million and November’s $95 million hauls.

Leading the group was roadside-assistance platform Urgent.ly, which more than doubled its funding total with a $21 million round led by several major automotive brands. Across the region, biotech is off to a hot start in January – healthcare-related startups made up one-third of D.C.-area funding deals and raised a combined $37 million.
