On New Year’s Eve in 2022, Nashville saw the greatest surge in foot traffic to its nightlife venues, soaring by an impressive 137%, compared to all other days in December 2022. Known for its live music venues and energetic atmosphere, Nashville attracts partygoers on New Year’s Eve with a unique blend of country charm and entertainment, making it a top choice for those ringing in the new year.

Securing the second spot, Las Vegas experienced a substantial 120% surge in foot traffic to its nightlife venues on New Year’s Eve. With its world-renowned casinos, extravagant shows, and an array of dazzling nightlife offerings, Las Vegas emerges as an unparalleled destination for those in pursuit of a one-of-a-kind countdown experience on New Year’s Eve.

Tampa saw an impressive 93% increase in foot traffic to its nightlife venues on New Year’s Eve. Its wide array of bars, clubs, and festivities attracts crowds looking to welcome the new year in a tropical climate.

With its thriving nightlife scene, Dallas experienced an 88% uptick in foot traffic. Characterized by trendy bars and upscale lounges, Dallas is an appealing New Year’s Eve destination, offering partygoers an experience with southern charm.

Experiencing an 85% increase, Cincinnati offers a burgeoning nightlife scene, boasting lively pubs, vibrant entertainment districts, and special New Year’s Eve events. Its welcoming atmosphere and spirited celebrations make Cincinnati a top destination for New Year’s Eve.

In any city, New Year’s Eve is celebrated across a multitude of various nightlife venues. But which types of nightlife entertainment draw in the most crowds? By analyzing consumer foot traffic on New Year’s Eve in 2022, we determined the top nightlife venues that attracted the most partygoers last year.

Bars stole the spotlight as the top choice, experiencing an impressive 57% surge in foot traffic on New Year’s Eve in 2022, compared to the rest of December 2022. This was closely followed by music venues, which saw a 55% increase in foot traffic on New Year’s Eve. Not far behind, nightclubs boasted a 48% surge in foot traffic. Meanwhile, comedy clubs also stood out, showcasing a 40% rise in foot traffic.

While New Year’s Eve typically sees a surge in partiers heading to nightlife venues, the celebration extends far beyond just bars and clubs. In fact, a substantial number of individuals opted to celebrate by visiting locations that offer more general types of entertainment. 

Indoor entertainment venues, aquariums, movie theaters, arenas, and bowling alleys emerged as popular destinations, each experiencing notable surges in foot traffic. Indoor entertainment venues saw a substantial uptick of 139% on New Year’s Eve compared to the rest of December.

Aquariums recorded a remarkable 120% increase, followed closely by movie theaters with a 102% rise. Simultaneously, arenas and bowling alleys saw impressive upticks of 101% and 89%, respectively. 

In the lively mix of New Year’s Eve celebrations, cities like Nashville and Las Vegas shine as top destinations, drawing people in with their exciting nightlife. But what’s really interesting is the many different ways people ring in the new year. While many still enjoy going to bars, music venues, and comedy clubs, others are choosing places like indoor entertainment centers, aquariums, bowling alleys, or movie theaters.

This wide range of preferences emphasizes that there isn’t a single way to celebrate the start of a new year; rather, there’s a multitude of options people enjoy. It’s in this mix of celebrations that the true spirit of New Year’s comes alive, with everyone finding their own way to have fun and start fresh.
