Here Are the Top Ice Cream Consumers by State
July 20, 2023
The warm summer months usually drive consumers outdoors to look for ways to spend their free time. Whether it be shopping, hobbies, or outdoor recreation, as consumer interest shifts in the summertime, foot traffic to popular commercial places of interest shifts as well. So as consumers spend more time outside the home in the summer and look for ways to cool off, ice cream shops see some of the most consumer demand and the most foot traffic at this time of year.
The U.S. ranks second in the world for ice cream consumption, falling just short of the number one spot (New Zealand). Additionally, the average American eats 20 pounds of ice cream per year, making U.S. consumers some of the top ice cream lovers in the world. We wondered, what else could we learn from the data behind the statistics?
What Location Intelligence Helps Us Learn
At Gravy Analytics, we use high quality, location data-derived solutions to gain a deeper understanding of who customers are with real-life behavior insights. With location intelligence solutions like ours, you can begin to understand the commercial places consumers visit and why they choose to visit these establishments. The more information you have about your customers, the deeper your understanding and the better your insights.
Having access to customer data like demographic data or geographic data can tell you who a consumer is and where they are, but with location intelligence, you can learn a lot more about consumers. Why do consumers visit certain locations at certain times? How often do they visit? How far do they travel to get there? Location intelligence can help you answer these questions and more to gain insight into consumers’ motivations. These insights can be applied to improve marketing messaging, ad targeting, and business strategy. Plus, they can be used as a competitive intelligence tool helping businesses gain a more competitive edge. All of this helps you to reach your customers at the right time, on the right channel, with the most effective message.
In our case, because U.S. consumers love ice cream so much, we sought to gain a better understanding of their preferences and habits when it comes to enjoying this delightful treat.
